Coparenting

Are you feeling frustrated with talking with your child's other parent? Do you dread needing to see each other? In and out of court with no end in sight? It can be better! Cooperative coparenting focuses on giving individuals the tools to manage their emotions and create a strong foundation for problem solving skills. It does not rely on the other person. You can only control yourself. When one person becomes easier to deal with it typically reduces the overall tension, creating a softer environment for parents to interact within. Dr. Bernard works with individuals or parents together through sessions to review current status, create goals and a plan. This may include working together and/or one-on-one in high conflict cases. She is not a therapist. She is here to focus on the here-and-now to reduce conflict, improve communication and improve coordination.
Dr. Bernard's interests are in creating a calm and safe environment for your child to trust in each of you working together, not apart. Her only bias stands with the child and how you can best work on yourself for them. In doing so, relationships become easier, challenges become smaller, and smiles becomes larger.
Parents benefit from facilitated support to work through difficult conversations and come to agreed solutions. Individuals benefit from the personal interaction and support specific to their needs.

What we do

01

Apps

Parents often need help in learning to use coparenting apps such as Talking Parents or Our Family Wizard effectively. The tools of coparenting can help reduce conflict! We also can review your communication patterns to learn best how to grow.

02

Fixing Communication

Dr. Bernard works on improving communication and coordination through the 4 S's. Let's keep coparenting conversations Short, Sweet, Simple, and Specific. This reduces conflict.

03

Orientation $150

Each parent starts with a virtual orientation. We review your history with the other parent, court issues, your concerns, goals, and needs. Orientations are conducted online, with zoom. Paperwork must be completed before login and invoices are due at the time of booking.

04

Joint Appointments $130 (split between parents)

Once both parents' complete orientation, joint appointments are generally the best approach to improving communication and coordination to reduce conflict. Safety comes first - and expectations are reviewed in orientation and reinforced in joint appointments.

05

Court reports, $65+

Individuals request court reports at least two weeks before the hearing. Reports are sent directly to the court as well as lawyers, if applicable.

06

1:1 Support, $25+

Each parent is unique and sometimes their needs are greater than the joint appointments. Individual support is always available to help parents navigate their specific growth. Think of me like the trainer at the gym and each of you are trying to lose weight. Certain strategies are important to all, but refining your program to match your needs is also important.
